What the tool does

Compare your own fresh Shopify product export with a supplier CSV, match unique SKUs, choose direct price, cost markup or target gross margin, review rounded changes and approve rows. All variants of affected products are included in the candidate; unchanged sibling prices are retained. There is no store connection, stock update, product creation/deletion or automatic write.

Six steps to a reviewed candidate

  1. Keep an untouched full Shopify export as your backup.
  2. Choose both UTF-8 files, inspect the raw preview and confirm comma/semicolon/tab delimiters.
  3. Map supplier SKU/value and optional cost/currency/notes. Select an explicit rule, store base currency and supplier decimal separator.
  4. Calculate, search/filter/sort and review final rounded old/proposed prices, deltas and risk reasons.
  5. Approve intended changes. Large changes (35%+), drops (20%+), low margin, below-cost or unusually high prices need individual approval. Confirm bulk approval of eligible lower-risk rows. Overrides need a reason and revoke prior approval.
  6. Acknowledge backup/import risks, generate and download all four files. Clearing the session, changing settings or closing the tab discards the current review.

Formats and limits

Supported Shopify export formats: current column names (`URL handle`, `SKU`, `Price`, `Option1..3 name/value`) and older column names (`Handle`, `Variant SKU`, `Variant Price`, `Option1..3 Name/Value`). Files mixing both naming styles are rejected. UTF-8 with optional BOM; quoting, embedded commas/quotes/newlines supported. Thousands separators and currency conversion are unsupported.

Supported currency precision: USD/EUR/GBP/CAD/AUD/CHF 2 decimals; JPY 0; KWD 3. C# decimal rounding is midpoint away from zero. Target gross margin excludes fees, taxes, shipping and discounts.

Shopify input: 15 MB / 50,000 variants. Supplier: 25 MB / 100,000 rows. Maximum cell 1 MB / 256 columns. Outputs over 15 MB fail: select a smaller complete product group. Linked metafield options, invalid sibling prices, missing/duplicate identity or formula-looking required import cells are blocked. Duplicate supplier/store SKUs never auto-update. Correct source files and recalculate.

Unit pricing is excluded

A price-only Shopify import can disable unit-price display even when its columns are omitted. Products with nonempty unit-price fields are blocked as a complete group, including unchanged siblings. Update those products directly in Shopify. Keep the full fresh export; do not remove unit-price columns or values to bypass this guard. A price rollback alone does not restore unit-price display settings.

Four separate downloads

  • Shopify price candidate CSV: product import file; intended change is Price only; preserve handle/title/options.
  • Human change report CSV: prices, risks, approvals, notes and reasons, with spreadsheet formulas neutralized. Never import the report into Shopify.
  • Rollback candidate CSV: original prices for the same affected product groups; best-effort price recovery.
  • Review summary JSON: version, local hashes, configuration, counts and approval history; no original CSV rows.

Backup, import and rollback

Native Shopify CSV overwrite matches handles, not SKUs. Missing Option columns can delete/recreate variants; changing option values changes variant IDs. Blank included columns can erase data. The candidate and rollback files keep handle, title and options exactly as exported for this reason.

  1. Export a fresh full product CSV and keep it untouched as your backup.
  2. Import one small product first with Shopify's “Overwrite products with matching handles” option. Inspect the import preview and cancel if it suggests new products, new variants or other unexpected changes.
  3. Check that product in Shopify admin: only the approved prices should differ. Then import the full candidate.
  4. To undo the price change, import the rollback file the same way. Later admin changes can complicate recovery.

Rollback is not a transaction or full store backup. Keep independent full exports and inventory/media backups. Official Shopify CSV documentation and import instructions were reviewed on 2026-10-14.

Privacy and recovery

SUG processes input and output locally in browser memory. It has no upload API, analytics, local/session storage of rows or filenames, or account system. Network canary tests and source review cover SUG's behavior; browser extensions and installed system software operate independently. Cancel processing to discard incomplete results; clear or reload to start again. Use a modern browser with JavaScript and WebAssembly.
